Auto Electrician to install Tekonsha P3 Prodigy brake controller
Submitted by Grooveepants on Tue, 2014-09-09 09:59
Hi,
I'm after an auto electrician to install the Tekonsha P3 Prodigy brake controller I have just purchased on ebay.
I'm getting some crazy pricing to install it. Is anyone on here a auto sparky or know of one that won't charge the earth?
I live south of the river in Melville area otherwise I work up in Osborne Park.
Cheers

I just paid Parkside $580 to supply and fit the P3, wiring harness and a 12 pin flat plug to take the hotwire fitted to a Jeep so $400 sounds about right.

Hey John
I've tried sending you a few messages about this but they don't seem to go through. I saw you had done it yourself on another thread.
Did you do this Hotwire thing to the battery of the breakaway unit on the trailer?

The "hotwire" is simply a
The "hotwire" is simply a feed to charge the breakaway battery. Your trailer plug will have a 12V feed in it, easy peasy to wire it to the battery to charge it.
12V wiring is very easy but very time consuming....if you have no time bit heaps of bucks get an auto lecky, if you have heaps of time and no bucks, do it yourself, if you have no time and no money......
You should be able to PM me??

maybe more accurately, the
maybe more accurately, the hotwire is to power the elec/hyd unit which depending on brand draws between 20 and 40 amps.
Charging the breakaway battery only accounts for a tiny portion of that current.

Yeah, well that is defnately needed, I assumed they were talking about the extra wire to charge the pissy little battery for the breakaway.
