Back to Onslow
I've just got back from one of the bigest fishing trips of me life, 12 days camping out of onslow. The first week there was 5 of us the last 5 days there was 7 of us. Not as many fish were caught as on previous trips as some days the wind was up and other days the fish didnt want to play ball. 90% of the fishing was in under 8 meters of water. The amount of beer drunk was mindblowing. 2 of the guys had never fished the ocean before and had flown from victoria to sample our style of fishing. I personaly didnt bring a fish home, with most of em released and the rest eaten either on the boat or back at camp.
The biggest fish over the side of my boat was a moster of a esturay cod caught in under 4 meters of water, when i say moster he was the biggest fish i have personaly landed. Some of the trevs were to say the least UNSTOPABLE with popers crunched into pieces, we did manage to land a few of the smaller ones. Over the next couple of days ill get some pics up and sort through the vid footage. Here is a pic of what i think is the prized barrimundi cod caught in 4 odd meters of water. What a hair cut

trev on bait
got this little baby pulling my bait up from about 5 metres of water .it hit the bait right at the back of the boat scareing the crap out of me . i say this little baby cause the ones that we couldnt stop were HEEEEAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPSSSSSSSSS bigger. this one was the first of 3 landed destroying the drag on the reel to the point where i couldnt wind the drag down any more and had to use my hand for exstra drag pressure

I'm jealous.
Looks like a good 15-20kg gt.
there might be some comments coming your way about the photo, but any picture of a gt is beautiful.
Wish i was there.

Great report
Top effort Mitch,
Would love to see a pic of that estuary cod you mentioned.
Don't worry about the haircut mate, you've still got more hair than me even with a mowhawk and I let mine grow as long as I can. (That's what you can look forward to when you get to my age - old, going bald & grey.)
Cheers

this was the third guy on my Heath
This was the third guy on my boat. The one liners he came out with kept us laughing like school kids even when the fishing was slow. Jack went back to onslow for him and abbs [jacks dad] half way through the trip restocking up on ice booze and fuel. Like they say better of looking at it than for it hicup hicup

Send em in
Send em in Mitch, nothing I haven't heard before. If theres any really gold footage in there, then let me know as it could be used for the first fishwrecked.com dvd. Would like to get some footage of you guys that have been supporting FW since early on in there. Would like to see that horse cod go in the shallows too, if you got footage that is. :)

Mitch, did you weigh the
Mitch, did you weigh the estuary cod you caught? We found a patch off samson that consistantly produced big estuary cod... couldn't get them in on our standard gear and had to resort to 200lb hand lines. Weighed one that was 50lbs and lost many more way bigger than that.
They're a bit average when it comes to fighting abilities but when you can catch them that big they're a bit of a challenge.

Nut's Trout
[img_assist|fid=23150|thumb=1|alt=Nut's Trout|caption=Horrible start to a top trip!!]
Here's a mate from over home ( Vic ) with the first fish for the trip at Can't Tell Ya Bay recently... Five blokes on an island for a couple of weeks was terrible as you can all imagine!! Then we were met by another couple of Castaways to help get through the green tins... Ey boy's... When are we going back?? Tomorrow sounds great. I'll attempt to throw a few more pic's on....

Another mate that came over from Vic to enjoy the fishing the Northwest has to offer. This beauty was a perfect end to what was a pretty quiet day... But as they say... A bad day's fishing is better than a good day's work!!!

Bring It On (mitch's weapon) and Bilzere (jack's stoinker) closer to the beach... Two of the smelliest boats in the Pilbra at that stage. The only girls allowed on the trip!!!

And from memory i think the call was " You boy's are on in a second" as three or four of these shot under the boat. This one only got a 7 for its double backflip reverse pike though... Great to watch.

A sunrise at the island which im sure four other blokes can't remember. Three litres of bourbon and two thirty packs of green tins for sweets will do it every time!!! The biggest night on the island without a doubt.

Two mates from over home ( Vic ) enjoying the Northwest for two weeks. FFF is the name of a team made up of skilled, keen, thirsty anglers from Nth East Vic that go to Dartmouth Dam each year for a pissup/fishing comp/bloody good week. Great spot for trout fishing if any of you are ever over that way. Freeburgh Freedom Fighters.

[img_assist|fid=23208|thumb=1|alt=Frogs Mc Trev]
Looks like he's about to pop through the roof!!! Put up a reasonable fight but the funniest thing was the effort to gaff it... Only from poor instructions for your's truely though. I told Nut's to just smack it cause it was playin around a bit so he smacked it allright..... with the back of the gaff....Aaaahhhhh... Had to be there.... Great recovery though with a clean one under the gills. Round two... K Jack... 3 votes.
