Bait for crab pots?

What are you folks using for bait in the crab pots?
Heard that lamb necks are good, but where do you get them?

lamb necks are really good

fresh Kangaroo meat is pretty good as well.

Tuna heads and also the good ol cow splene always seem to work pretty well.

Is anyone still tyring in the river towards blackwall reach and point walter with drop nets? I know a few of the boys diving have picked up the odd blue manner or 2 but haven't heard of many people trying with drop nets lately?

If the day turns out decent

If the day turns out decent tomorrow, I will take the kids out for a bit of play.  Hoping they will like it enough to brave the bumps and follow me out on to the ocean.

Use any bait mate spleen, chicken necks ect are good. But you will have to pay a shitload for them at your butchers. All i use is left over fish frames ect and i also catch heaps of gardies when there around, as crabs love them. That way its much cheaper!

I always use mulies left

Sat, 2008-07-26 23:45

I always use mulies left over from fishing, make up some bait packets out of a role of gutter guard and drop a mulie or 2 inside and clip it into the bottom of the net. Absolutely unbeatable.
