Great picture. Would love to be able to see a time lapse from a height like this over a 12 month period to see the change.
Given that is a relatively well protected bay from "large" wave action, it is certainly amazing how much sand moves around due to currents and small wave activity.
Similarly up here in Exmouth now, I sort of always assumed that beaches inside the reef on the west side would remain relatively unchanged due the protection of the outer reef.... Couldn't have been more wrong!

Just had a look on Nearmap.
There is a significant reduction in seaweed in the area which would result in a hell of a lot more sand movement.
