I would say early morning or late arvo as with most species, I'm no expert though. I'm having a crack early tomorrow morning, hopefully pick up a couple of herring on the way out sit them out the back under a balloon, while doing some bottom bouncing on the FFB. Fingers crossed.

Yeah I'd be happy with one. Got a good one up at Coral Bay early Jan. but the cutlets are running low in the freezer, so tasty on the bbq!

From my limited experience i prefer early morning. Last year when they were in close off mindarie we were easily getting a few in the mornings but when we tried in the arvo's we had alot less luck. Thats just my experience tho.

Anytime
I believe tide changes are just as important as the time of day,we have caught probably 10mackies in the last two seasons. We have caught them morning midday and late arvo but there are a lot of variables within these times, clarity of water, baitfish weather conditions.I caught my biggest one that was easily over 20kg during a summer storm at midday, there was little wind but it was black as and pissin down.Put in the time and you will eventually succeed. If trolling for them a witch doctor is a must have

Macky info!
Paul,
Macs do feed on the change of light ie early morning and late arvo but I've caught more around the lead up and just after the High tide!
As Dirt said other stuff like baitfish & water clarity also important. Time on the water with a mirror teaser, in the right areas with a rising tide gets me very confident especially with so much warm water atm!
All the best!
