Big $$ on fishing gear

My last night for the time being on Groote. Went down to the jetty to see what was happening, the indigenous kids were fishing with hand lines and cheap Kmart rods and reels, I saw barramundi, jacks, fingermarks, skinnies (queenies) and a few others I couldn't identify hitting the boards regularly. I must bring a rod back here if I get to return.

When i was a kid in the kimberleys the best lure for
mackies trolled behing the boat and for casting off the rocks was a cheap silver metal butter knife with a bit of a bend in the middle and a drilled hole either end, one hole for the split ring and treble the other hole ta attach your wire and line - mackies jump all over it behing the boat and you could cast it a mile. Have also seen a large hook with a piece of alfoil crushed around and onto it about 6 inches long - pulled behing the boat and bang mackie and tuna time! The fish up there eat just about anything
