hey guys just a quick question if i am using a bimini twist to a penostor rig ( via GT know i know its overkill ) and loose half the rig do i have tie do a new bimini aswell, because i hate loosing a meter and a half of braid everytime i have to re rig or should i just go with a swivel.

should just use a wind on
should just use a wind on leader and then use a double uni knot tied to a quality snap swivel then clip it on to the loop of your paternoster rig

or from the wind on tie
or from the wind on tie directly to the 3 way swivel and eliminate the snap
Reverse cycle a/c supply and install - Ducted and wall splits

wind on
i use direct from braid to mono no wind on straight to leader i dont see the use for a wind on when my leader is 2 2-1/5 mtrs long.( should of mentioned)which i personally think is enough shock absorber.
instead of using a braid straight to swivel to paternoster and not have to tie a bimni everytime i loose a rig.
i can post a pic if u not sure what i mean.
Cheers

If your using the GT knot all
If your using the GT knot all the time, i bought some leader spools that are really small called Galis shore leader fluro carbon. Its spools are so small you dont have to tie a really long bimini- the spool is easy to fit inside the small loop!
Disclaimer: I realise bimini's with more twists are stronger.
Seems really stupid but its made my life ten times easier so ive got time for all the other stuff in life- like dishes...

I now exlusively use braid
I now exlusively use braid straight to 3m mono wind on/shock leader with FG knot. Ending in B/B Snap which attached stright to the top three way swivel of my paternoster rig. SNap just makes it easier interchanging between bait rigs and jigs. I have been snagged many times already where normal methods wont get it off and as last resort i have just wrapped the braid around a bollard and drove the boat to force a snap and as yet the FG knot hasnt failed once. Always been one of the uni knots in the three way swivels somewhere or the hook or rig leader line itself snapping.
Used to do Bimini in braid to Double Uni join to 3m wind on/shock leader. And it too has never failed on me once. But i just prefer the FG now as its small so its good for casting, its easy to tie in a hurry and i can now even do it without looking at it. But the old Bimini/Double Uni served me very well for over 10 years :)
Big reason i like using Wind on/Shock leaders is more that it affords that extra bit of tough mono incase Mr fish gets to a reef or cave, and for when de rigging things i am just cutting mono and re tieing on mono. I maybe change the FG knot and entire leader maybe once every 10 trips if it hasnt been damaged. I try and waste as little braid as possbile.
