Black magic Fluro Carbon

Just wondering if anyone else has had issues

I purchased some 60lb leader and have found when I'm tying knots its snapping at the know while I'm tying them

Im thinking it must be a faulty batch and was wondering if anyone else has had this issue

Thanks

Have had problems with black magic b4 and as above I only use Jinkai. (Although don't like it for paternoster rigs)

Yeah I'm just using for paternoster rigs and I did find that if I used a lot of spit and tightened really slowly it didn't snap while tightening but it snapped a few times at the knots when I got snagged and under not much pressure at all

What leader do you guys recommend for paternoster rigs and do you bother with Fluro Carbon

probably should have elaborated.

I dont bother with fluorocarbon for that size leader.
Jinkai is great leader but on paternoster rigs it twists up cos it's so supple.

I'll continue to use jinkai for shock leader (jigging, plastics etc which is most of my fishing these days)

but have to find something else for paternoster rigs myself.

Fluorocarbon

Used to use fluoro but it's a bitch to tie knots with. Way too stiff and rigid. Persisted with it for a while but got sick of it. Went back to black magic mono leader and don't see any difference in catch rates.

Never had a problem with it. Flurocarbon is my preference for tying paternosters as well actually due to the fact it is very stiff and rigid. It prevents the knot biting in on itself too much which I believe can be a major cause of weak knots. Paternosters are notoriously weak knots but I find them pretty good when using Fluro.

Yep, bought some Black Magic

Yep, bought some Black Magic leader about a year ago and lost several good fish to breakoffs at the knot. Started to doubt my knots but I tested it later at home side by side next to some other leader of same breaking strain with the same knots and the 10kg Black magic stuff broke at the knot surprisingly easily pulling with my hands. No such probs with the other brand of leader. Wondered myself if it was a bad batch but decided to bin it and go back to the more expensive stuff.

Don't like Black magic for the same reason, seems to be unreliable. Always use Jinkai now, though previously I liked Andes.

Don't rate black magic

Don't rate black magic either. Always seems to get damage to the coating when cinching up knots no matter how well it's lubed up. I use nitlon for anything up to 30lb & jinkai for anything over that.

I tie paternosters with a mono dropper for the sinker & flouro for the hooks.

Black magic Flurocarbon no good!

used 20lb for soft plastic jigging and found the same issue as you have had. Lost fish twice because of the leader and a couple of great jigs as well! Very unimpressed, have gone to jinkai 20lb mono leader until I find a suitable replacement in fluro!

Anyone used the pink Yo Zuri FC? Just picked some up as they were fairly limited in the 50lb range
