Black Watch 34

 Hey guys,,

Picked up the boat on Saturday and brought it back from Mandurah to Mindarie. The trip took 3hrs  @ 22 knots in almost glass off conditions. We took her out yesterday for a big day of marlin fishing in the trench. The wind came in early and the swell was up to 2.5m by noon. The girl lived up to all my expectations,  she handled the seas very well regardless of which direction we ran. This Black Watch really does live up to her reputation as a serious sea boat. Not a great fishing day, one small yft and a strike on one of the big lures. At 4pm we pulled in the lures and headed for Mindarie. The trip took 1.5hrs @ 22 knots in a 2.5m following sea the ride was so comfortable that I almost fell asleep with the autopilot taking us home. If anyone wants to go marlin fishing in the next month or 2 send me a pm. I have taken the boat out of survey to due some recreational fishing while I get use to her. I will be running some trips at cost while getting use to the boat. A great opportunity to get in on some cheap marlin fishing.

Very nice mate - if only I still lived in Perth, I'd be all over it!

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Ahh. Wee Jock. I had a look at it when it was sitting in Dampier doing the montes runs. Seemed like a fair bit of boat for the money. Should scrub up ok with a bit of tlc.

For the rest of this season I plan to keep her out of survey and fish recreationaly while I get use to the new girl. We found Sunday to be very fishable and the conditions weren't a problem. I only need about $200 per person to pay for fuel with a minimum of 4 persons. If you are interested pm your number and we will go looking for a marlin!

Was that you's at pt peron sunday between 12pm-1pm coming back from mandurah? That was my wife n i in the 4.1m dingy 2k out, nearly got flattened by a big boat that was'nt watching where he was going, he must of heard me whistle as thought would be the only way to get his attention, it worked thank christ, slowed down immediately then altered course, will be wearing orange hi vis and investing in a air horn from now on, to many close calls.

Awesome boat and Russ is a top bloke. We didnt find any marlin on Sunday but was still a great day with a bit of by catch, a nice yellow fin tuna landed as well as a small stripy. Can't beat some fresh sashimi and cold beer while cleaning the boat!
