As we ease off the back of summer, another week has passed in which we still wait for salmon. But do not fear, they will be here! Whispers of salmon behind the 3 mile have been making the rounds like highschool rumours, so it shouldn’t be long before they start to show up on the metro beaches.

There is still plenty of demersal action to be had in the deeper water. The weather has been great providing plenty of opportunity to get amongst it. Some reasonable fish have been landed closer in around the three mile and five fathom bank, however anglers have reported lots of coral spawn and dirty water in the shallows. If you are in a small boat or not willing to travel the distance, you may need to persist through the day in search for your bag limit in the shallower water. Deep, or atleast in the clean water is the place to be if you can get there.

Closer in, squid have been fishing well, but again, finding the clear water is vital. For the landbased fishos, hotspots like South Mole and Woodies have been producing pretty decent numbers lately.
For those who have figured it out, some good catches of snapper have been coming from within the Cockburn Sound but the fishing can be iffy. A strong but fine berley trail on dusk or dawn will definitely put you ahead of the game.

Yet again this week some great fish have been landed off the stones in our South West. More reports of reasonably sized blue grouper have come in and also some seriously big kings. Check out this horse of a yellowtail kingy on stickbait from Jamie Thompson!




Mulloway to a meter have been caught between Quinns and Two Rocks, with the odd chopper tailor in the mix. The northern beaches have been seriously consistent for the past month now, and are well worth a shot if you are in search of a silvery slab. It wont be long until the big green backs beging patrolling the northern beaches, so now is a great time to jump in store and get a few new stickbaits and poppers ready.

Inside the river, the bream have been particuarly active on dusk and dawn in our rivers. Anglers like staff member Pete Berlinski have been having a ball in these low light periods with top water lures and hardbody minnows like this Zipbait Kahmsin Tiny.
