Boat insurance assessor needed

Hi, Advise required please. Someone smashed into my the back of my boat and trailer a few days ago when I was on my way to the marina and pretty much wrecked the motor, trailer and boat.

The guys insurance company asked me to get a marine assessor to work our the value of damage caused for the claim as they dont deal in boats enough to have heir own marine assessor.

Its in a holding yard in Innaloo, does anyone know who would do this valuation for me please? Its a 4.2 Quinny centre console. The tow car has a fair bit of damage also but the insurance company is sorting that out ok.

Thanks

Mick

Id hazard a guess that the boat isnt insured.
may find that it is covered under the cars insurance but I doubt it.

Sometimes box trailers are.
If its uninsured, you may still find that your car insurance company will handle the total claim in regards to getting the funds from the other company?

If you talk to the boat lifting yard they can help you organise such things. Seen trailer boats in there after prangs before and the guys there are always really helpful.

Unless they put in writing that they will pay the cost

You should NOT appoint your own assessor.....they are costly and legally the expense is NOT recoverable as part of your claim against the negligent party.

Send me a pm with your contact details and I will ring and discuss your options

Finally got it all sorted

Tue, 2016-11-29 16:36

Finally got it all sorted out. Insurance paid out a reasonable amount for the written off boat, motor and trailer, and the landcruiser has now been repaired as well.

A big thanks to "sunshine" whos expert advice helped out heaps, we had no idea where to start otherwise. Now to find another boat.

Pleasure to be able to assist

just being pointed in the right direction really so didn't help that much.  Tried to help another member but the absence presently of clear evidence of a flapper valve replacement hindering making any real progress.  Note Well .....keep ALL maintenance records in a safe spot, don't rely on repairers having decent records !!
