what a great start to 2013 sharing the quiet of a nice country lake with fellow boaters who after all were only out for a little racing on the lake followed by a gang bashing and quite possibly a good BBQ afterwards give me the strength to see 2013 out
Is it just me or has Perth become the most violent and aggressive city in Australia, seems that nearly all news is consumed with this kind of bullshit!!
I think all the Cities in Australia have the same problems, just being here in Perth we hear MORE of the bad stuff that goes on here, and only hear of the really bad stuff that goes on in other Cities.
can some one tell me if there is any other city in australia that employs guards to ride shotgun in vehicles in front or behind busses day and night, or is it just a perth thing
So what do we do about it? wait until it impacts us first hand? Vote for a government that has some balls that can pass laws that try and stomp this shit out? or stick our heads in the sand and say ''Hey that’s Perth"
You will wait a long time to get a government with balls big enough to tackle the situation as non will put up their hands at election time and tell you just what they will do they just say we will "get tough on crime" which we all know is bullshit, knobs like tom percy the barrister say tougher sentences are not the answer but if these thugs and other crims were made to suffer greatly when they are caught and I mean SUFFER then maybe just maybe they would think twice about repeating their actions
but we all know if they get caught it will be a tickle on the arse with a feather and a very small fine
This world is going to dissapear up it's own arsehole and the longer nothing is done to deter this crap
I am angry, and sick of the Murders, bashings, and Aggression that represent our city, we all need to wake up and try and find a solution to stop this shit!!
i am in full agreeance with your comments i think it all started when corporal punishment went from our school system and there was no punishment for kids who stepped out of line and you respected authority from a very early age. That does not mean I support beating the hell out of kids at an early age but it does mean that you did not get a slap on the wrist if you did not pay due respect for the school code of acceptable behaviour, now if a kid belts a teacher the teacher has to explain what he did to enrage the kid so mutch that he struck out at authority
This all boils down to lack of and bad parenting. Smacking and caning is one form of punishment and I reckon is useful at times but parents these days let their kids run amok and don't teach them values and respect. Monkey see monkey do.
Clearly the older bloke was pinging them, so he had it coming....
Seriously, hope he makes a speedy recovery, and the dogs feel the full force of the law. Surely 6 vs 1 would be aggravated assault, and no chance of a self defence argument. Hope they enjoy their time inside. Agree with others comments, I reckon that if you question anybody under the age of 40 on their behaviour, you can expect the first response to be "Who the f%^$ are you", and the second response to be a fist coming at you. The days of behaving in a civilised manner (yes, even during a disagreement, it is possible) to each other seem long gone. Even when you do see a stranger and give them a friendly wave, or a smile, or god forbid help them launch/retrieve at the boat ramp, the look of sheer surprise on their face tells the story. This used to be the norm, and now we are surprised if somebody is nice? (Crap, I think I'm turning into an old man, sounds like something my dad would say!)
look at singapore... none of this crap happends there. not sure what they do there but it works!!! zero tollerance to crime... we should adopt their policy when dealing with thugs.
Actually alot of this same sort of stuff happens in Singapore too, just there is less of it, thought one would probably expect that of a smaller population in a smaller area in a Police State with a higher ratio of Police to Citizens. Plus they will often bring their Military with thier hardware out to anything they think might be brewing eg a bunch of 100 Australian Servicemen on the piss and making a bit of noise hahaha :P
As an example, though obviously this is just something off the net so how true it is is anyones guess
Believe me heavy handed law enforcement and police states isnt always the answer as crime is a human society condition it seems throughout history. Often crime wont be eradicated in a place more that its just shifted to another area where it is less enforced. Though sometimes you wish it could be.
The trouble is with the hype around cage fighting, UFC, Pride fighting etc. everyone thinks they are the next World champ so the wanna be heros of the world feel they need to go around and piss on wheels and flick dust. This usually results in some poor prick getting flogged, they usually pick their prey ( generally smaller & older ). So while I think the sport of MMA is fantastic I also think that it does promote violence in our community by the way it publicised. As someone who has done MMA in the past I have seen the attitudes displayed by ameture fighters and some coaches and it is terrible. But I must say there are a lot of good coaches and students out there.
Have to disagree Beerburper, i think most of this violence is directly linked to the glass pipe ( Meth ) that seems to create agresive behaviour and a lack of control during altercations.
I dont think many of these people commiting these offences have ever been involved in MMA, sure they might watch UFC etc , but in my experiance most people who train in martial arts know better than to smash an old man in the face as hard as they can . I understand what you are saying about some clubs that promote the wrong attitude and have seen it myself, but i feel they are only a small part of the whole MMA scene.
If you watch youtube you will see more violence from school yard bullies and hero's outside nightclubs than on the UFC channel. I think these type of clips are what desensitise people and allow them to think they can do what ever they want without consequence.
This is just my oppinion mate and i understand part of your comment ,but i think there are many more reasons behind this kind of behaviour than watching or training in MMA .
Yep agree there Grant. These are just heroed morons who think they are tough. Firstly name and shame the knob. They would run a mile if they came accross a someone who could stand up for themselves.
G'day John - Certainly have to agree with you there, and Grant up above - up until recently I had a job that involved a LOT of Court work and dealing with those before the Courts, both off the streets and those that had been locked up by the police for the next scheduled court day. At the front end, I've seen first hand, the effect that the crap on the streets has on these people. In many cases they already have physcological issues. So consuming the poisons that they do (God knows why!) just exasperates their condition, skewed perspectives and marginalisation.
At the end, most of these perpetrators face a Magistrates Court. They hire clever lawyers and, as a result, they often cop a wrap over the knuckles. I've seen some of them laughing as they come out of court.
IMHO, we need to start looking at mandatory sentences - and I'm talking about MINIMUM penalties and sentences, not MAXIMUM, to me the latter is just political spin that might look good in the media, but clearly doesn't address the issue!
