Boat Stereo
Submitted by Simo_ on Fri, 2012-03-02 22:20
Looking at replacing my boat stereo as its stuffed.
Saw some GME ones at my local boat shop today that looked good, just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions.
The current one is bracket mounted so will be looking for the same.

Fusion all the way but....
I have the Fusion MS-IP600 which is flush mounted. It was in the boat so I don't know if it comes with bracket. Most people have recommened the Fusion Stereos but do they come with mounting bracket as stated in Simo's thread?

wired remote
you can buy a wired remote for the fusion i have my head unit mounted away inside a hatch and have the wired remote mounted in the dash being a centre console i thought it was the best option and it doesnt take up as much space either

picked up a fusion 600 ipod /
picked up a fusion 600 ipod / iphone myself on the weekend.....dead screen out of the box$@#%@#$%@#$^#$%
And what's more of a piss off, is the boat shop I bought the unit from did not just replace the unit, rather send it away for an 'advanced replacement' which I think is BS.
Not one for bagging oyt local businesses, but a mate and I went into this NOR boat shop chasing a stereo on Saturday, only to have the most average customer service I've seen in a long time. Pretty ordinary considering we spent over a grand in the shop!
So my girlfriend went back to the shop today with the faulty unit, only to be told it had to be sent away.... Well I did see 4 or 5 other units on the shelf on Saturday. They were closed Sunday and Monday so the chances they sold them all is remote
Needless to say I won't be going back to that shop again.

That's crap
If it was faulty out of the box, it should be exchanged with a profuse apology from the dealer IMO.

electrical warranty
one of the issues the suppliers have is if you dont see the item work in the shop they tend to avoid replacement warranty when you take an electrical item home and have a go at wiring it your self,, most people get it right ,some dont power it up right or reverse polarity which can damage the electronic cards especially with stereos with amps and additional speakers being interconnected , much like having a mobile for a week and it stops working ( water ingress is the standard response ) even though most phones are direct replacement warranty under 30 days , but your dealer would rather send i away to have it checked out

doubt it would worry them, have you ever swum under your boat when the sounder is on?
Try it-its not all that pleasant but obviously doesnt seem to worry fish!
