Boat trailer build

 Gday all,

Just after some advice/information on building a aluminium trailer, has anyone built one or have plans to do so? Or if a forum on here already exists, any advice would be much appreciated.

I recall looking into this as well a while ago

The Ausfish forum has a thread on a DIY build

sadly it looks like the photos are gone

I ended up getting an awesome trailer built by Tezza down in Port Kennedy for my 5m centre console

black gen,

Not sure of the size of your boat, but I have just last week got a quote from Tezza's.

To suit my 6.7mtr ally and rated to 3.4 tonne came in at $10,100 ($9,600 with 2.8 tonne rating).

These really are awsome trailers.

 All good fellas,

Im just trying to explore the option of building one and how much cheaper it would be, quotes ive had for tandem galv trailer full roller type to suit 6m glass boat are between $5,200 and $6,500 and for aluminium was told to add about 3k.

Biggest decision would be deciding if electric brakes are required. Most 6m glass boats when loaded with full fuel, esky, fishing gear etc are well over the 2T.

I have a 5.9 Fraser and it is 1650kg empty, so far i have been told that mechanical breaks are sufficient. It currently sits on a tandem Trailit trailer with mechanical brakes
