Boddington?

Going out there to work for at least the next four weeks...could pan out to months...and wondering about fishing opportunities there? I know my chances of a mackeral/coral trout/dhufish would be fairly remote but after having a look at the satellite image it appears there is a waterway of some sort meandering through town, and I thought redfin perhaps? If I get any positive feedback by tomorrow I can shoot down to the post office to get the freshwater licence!
Any help appreciated, John

Plenty of Redfin
G'day John..
I worked at the mine years ago and after knock off time took off to the river that runs parrallel to mine site road (opposite site camp)..
From memory there was a disused bridge and plenty of redfins in the area..
Never a dull session and always landed plenty...
Much better than going to the wet mess or into the pub in town !
If you're there during marron season, would be worth putting some nets out !
cheers,
Paul

Great!
Just the info I was looking for...did you get 'em on lures, hopefully?
Yeah, been away at work camps before and if you haven't got a healthy outlet like fishing to fall back you're generally stuck with drinking/playing cards/watching DVD's during down time!
Again, great info, cheers mate!

Yep..
Used to use cheapo spinning lures...
Just take a selection of hard bodies, sp's and lures for trout.... should work a treat !
And a couple of coldies

Eating Redfin
Are Redfin the same as the ones caught in the Murray River over East . Are they suitable for eating as I think the redfin over East are not .

To get you started
To get you started John..
From memory, this is the bridge...It's been nearly 20 years since I was last there..
There used to be some good rock pools around the area as well.
Only just realised looking at Google Earth they have a new camp !!
Old one used to be accross the road.
cheers,
Paul

There are some excellent
There are some excellent Redfin/Trout waters on the Murray river.
Head out to Quindanning, turn right after the pub(Quindanning/Harvey Rd) keep going past the Worsley Belt line till you have forrest both sides of the road.Once get to the first lot of BIG powerlines after the beltline there are many small tracks on the right leading down to the river, the more the track is used the better the spot. The Pine Forrest is the last spot as the river then heads for Dwellingup. There is a 4WD track that follows the river to Nanga Bush camp in Lane Poole reserve. There are trip guides for this track available from CALM(now DEC).LOTS of fishing and camping spots along the track.
Make sure you have a licence.Yes they are quite edible!!!
ENJOY

Well...
....now I DO have an excuse not to catch anything. We're doing 12 hour days, 13 day fortnights! How do lures work for redfin when it's dark, 'cause that's the only chance I have now!
