books about fishing

Sometimes, for whatever reason, you just aren't able to get out for awhile.

So myself, I'm happy to find an interesting and unusual fishing based book.

My top three:

Lone Dhow by Conan Doyle ( the son of the author of the Sherlock Holmes stories)

Craytales ( has come up previously on  this forum)

The Longest Silence by Thomas McGuane.

Couple I've read in recent history:

  • Cod - A biography of the fish that changed the world - Mark Kurlansky
  • I Remember - memoirs of a whaling skipper - Ches Stubbs
  • The Way Things Were - Dudley P Gordon

I love The Perfect Storm by Sebastian Junger as well.

Thanks for the refs above lc, I'm always on the look out for something new to read along those lines too.

The Ches Stubbs and DP Gordon books are both local so they cover some interesting WA history as well as being great reads.
