Books/Guide to WA
Submitted by Liamo on Wed, 2008-11-19 00:03
Hi lads,
I'm heading over from Ireland in the New Year and I intend to spend some time fishing the becahes/land based for a while before looking for work. I intend to start soemwhere around Geraldton and travel north for a couple of months Apr - Aug.
Can someone recommend some a good book or two I could buy? I need to get a good idea of what species I am likely to encounter and what range of tackle I need to bring with me? I want to catch everything!

Good Book
Hi Liam,
The 'North Australian FISH FINDER' is a great reference book for fishing the top end of Aus and starts from Geraldton and heads north in the WA section. Includes heaps of fishing spots and all the species that you will expect to catch.
I've got one you can borrow if you want. It's a cracka of a book. I live in Perth so if you are arriving into Perth before heading North I'm sure that we can arrange something.
Three days without it and I get a little jumpy
The best reason for doing what's right today is tomorrow.

Thanks again for the replies lads, will check out those books and thank you guys for offers of posting them to me etc. but I think I'll get one or two of 'em online today and start swotting up!
That fishwrecked comp in May sounds like the business, if I'm there I'll try and make it!
Thanks again

Mobile Broadband Providers
Hi Lads,
Me again, this time I have a new query! As I will be travelling up the coast for a few months and I'll have the laptop with me I was wondering if there are any mobile broadband providers out there that won't cost me an arm and a leg!

the heat...
I have had plenty of warning about the heat! and yes I do think 30C is hot, 40 would be unbearable for me I think :-) Because of work here etc. etc. I will be heading out in April to Perth and the plan is to take off up north from there, if I get up to Broome and beyond and find it's too hot then hopefully I'll have found someplace in between there and Perth that'll have a more favourable climate.

the weather up north that
the weather up north that time of the year is quite pleasant
come summer you would need to head south for cooler temps ,sometimes the weather up top end can reach 50 and verry high humidity ,its like taking a shower with your cloths on "lol"
never been up there during summer but the areas south of kalbarri are bareable temp wise from what i have heard
either way you will have a ball over here
