be interested to hear why you thing it's horrible stuff !
wouldnt use it for jigging but it's bullet proof for anything else, good abrasion resistance, always breaks higher than specified breaking strain and has good knot strength.
It's too thick so you get way less line on the spool and affects casting distance especially chucking small lures. Is quite stiff so horrible for tying knots and fades the second salt and sun gets on it. It generally feels like a piece of kitchen twine rather than the quality braids that feel like cotton.
I don't see the point of buying an expensive reel and filling it with cheap braid which is why I ripped it off the one reel I put it on and spooled my 5y old's reel with it.
Without a doubt, the best braid I have ever fished with was fins.
I would recommend keeping clear from the Daiwa braid, I have it on my bait caster and it frays way to easily.
I have also heard great things abou the new power pro which has been redeveloped to be smoother for better casting, hopefully with this they have made it thinner though, I have 50 pound of the older power pro and it is quite thick, but is also bloody tough and doesnt fray.

break in the middle of the line for no reason at all with fluff tufts on either end. Have been using Power pooo and is good but have started to use Platypus Platinum braid. Good value for money and Aussie made too boot.
look at paulus web site and you'll realise why Fins is thicker, 20ld breaks at 35lb, fins is excellent line, good all rounder, horses for courses, I use ygk for jigging, fins for beach, power pro slick 8 for casting, sunline PE for bream ect....As a general braid though fins is good, just be aware it breaks way way over its stated BS.
Shimano Ocea is probably the best strength to diameter ratio i've come across although not cheap. Sas braid is also very good and lasts for ever. A bit thicker though.
The old original black Fireline with the waxy feel. It really was very good but thick for its rated BS. 30lb Fireline was my go-to for most things, esp. as was was way under rated. I went to Fins original when the FL was getting harder to obtain in the spools I wanted. I don't think Fins original is as uner rated as FL was, but I have had a generally good run with it. No actual failures that couldn't be put down to a "locked drag and hang on approach "when it was needed, but I did find a weak spot , definite manufacturing issue, once, which necessitated tyong a knot, so QC may not be all it could be. But it is probably a case of getting what you pay for, it isn't expensive. I've used it in 20lb, 30lb, but mostly 50lb, and will probably continue to do so.
I use Suffix on the Talica for bottom bashing and it does the job, ties easily and havent had any problems breaking or snapping, thats not to say I wouldnt try something diferent next time I spool up.
I've had some Sunline Super PE in 80lb on a reel for a year and a half and I've enjoyed it. Nice and soft, supple enough to tie good knots and very strong. It does lose its colour but retains shape well, despite a heap of abuse.
The only down side to it is the crap abrasion resistance due to being very soft, although I just use a very long leader and haven't had any problems.
Must admit I can probably count the different brands of braids I've tried on one hand.
I am comfortable with Fireline though. I have used Paulus Just fishing website (as mentioned above) to compare diameter to BS and am aware that Fireline breaks way above it's stated BS. I've noted that it loses its colour quickly, but I'm not sure if that has an effect on the BS or abrasion resistance (I believe not).
I was impressed when my brother in law had a cobia on 20lb Fireline off the rocks at Quobba and the going was tough with these 'never say die fish', because at one point the fish took him back out for a run around the rock, and his line was being stripped against the rocks for a good 5-10 seconds, and I was thinking 'bugger' that's gonna 'pop', but he did get the line off the rock and managed to land the fish later. So that was a huge tick for me. Unless I do come across another braid which can match this, I'm happy to stick to Fireline (20lb +) for LBG fishing up north.

As far as bang for your buck goes I've found the Sunline to be brilliant. I have the Super PE and a Multicoloured jigging braid and happy with both.
