Hi all can't believe I have only just discoverd this site! Heaven!
Anyway I'm of to broome with a mate from 30th till the 6th on jan to pretty much just fish the whole time. I've read all the other post for broome and got some good info but was hoping to get abit more.
Will be hiring a boat (4.5m+ tinny) and keen to get out abit and fish the reefs. Is this dooable in a small boat? Should I be taking my deep sea gear?
Will buy a cast net for live bait and hit up the rivers and river mouths ect too
If anyone has any info would be much appreciated! or if in town at the time and is keen for a fish and beers jump on board :)

Good luck mate. If you go
Good luck mate. If you go anywhere near the creeks, take lots of insect repellant. Also you will need a license for a throw net.
Do a search on Broome or Willie creek for info :)

Its not a great time to fish
Its not a great time to fish Broome, the sea will be bumpy with constant onshore winds, so ocean fishing will not be like the photos you have seen. But the fish are still there of course. Travelling will be slow, water dirty, etc etc The creeks will fish ok Willie, Dampier, Crab, Jacks, Barred creeks etc. If this is your one holiday a year to go fishing and you have big expectations my advice is to stop around Exmouth.

info
Fish the right hand side of Dampier Creek (steaming in) on the incoming tide...also head along the coast from Dampier Creek (away from town - not towards the Wharf) for about 3kms there is a reef system just off shore...also just outside the reef area (look for the bouys) there is some ground to bottom fish on...not big fish but fun...Call into a little sports fishing shop in town it is located on the corner of short street by the roundabout...this guy was very helpful with local information...sea can get lumpy...we went up there a few months ago with a 4.5m c/c tinny...would not take back would spend time shore based...anyway have fun watch out for the bities...photos on your return required...cheers from cold Taupo in NZ
