Hi Guys
Next month im heading up to Eco beach for a Week and i have got an overnight stay in broome when we first get there. Im just wondering if anyone knows if you are legally allowed to fish off the jetty in Broome?
I have heard stories of big GTs and Queenies in some particular areas of the jetty and wouldnt mind giving it a go. Any information would be awesome. Im only there for a night and have no car so huge treks are out.
Cheers

Yea can fish on the jetty.
Yea can fish on the jetty. They have a walkway down the south side of the jetty nearly all the way to the end. And no you cant drive down jetty. Some good fishing to be had from there at times too.... Plenty of rumours of heaps of barra under there at the moment...

Check the tides
I would be checking the tides before trying to get out to the jetty Jeremy. I lived there for about five years and if its a big tide you won't hold the bottom. Used to be able to get barra at the end of the jetty, but i think they banned that.
Certainly seen heaps of queenies pulled from there and the odd bluebone.

Fish from the rocks
I think you would be better fishing from the rocks on the southern side of the jetty all the way around to Gantheume(spell check) Point, plenty of good spots for flicking lures. To many people on the jetty that time of year. June is a good time for threadfin an bluenose salmon, also get queenies and GT's. But the rocks are definatley the go and pretty easy to get to.
Hope that helps.

Hi Patty,
I used to fish the jetty extensively in the old days when you could drive out the end, pull up a chair and order a pizza delivery.
Did a bit of nostalgia fishing from the walkway last year to check it out. Managed to spin up a few 6-8 kg broadbars. Word must have got around very quickly because some of tyhe old crew made a rare appearance the following day.
Had some great afternoon queenie sessions landing one meter jobs one after the other till nightfall shut things down. Once you tease them up with wobblers or similar they are suckers for big XOS surface poppers making for great entertainment.
There has been quite a bit of action down there just recently - spun up about half a dozen queenies one afternoon from the tinnie and there were lots of trevs following. Fortunately they left me and my tackle alone.
Just follow the bait and spin up through the schools. if you want a jetty guide just PM me when we get close and I will see what I am doing. If I am not out diving I would be happy to show you around.
Brett.
