Buccaneer classic - what do.i need to take up there
Hey fishos. I haven't been doing any serious fishing for a few years now due to work, shit roster, and a bit of depression on the side, suddenly I realise I don't know what used to. So to get myself back, I have jumped in with a mate to go up to cockatoo island and have a fish at the buccaneer classic in a few weeks.
Anyone familiar with the area that can give me an idea on what gear I need to take up there to be prepared? Coins not an issue, but time is. Pretty much will just have the tues after Easter to grab what I need before flying up.
I have dusted off my gear so current ammo is demonblood 64cj with 30lb stradic 4000. Tcurve deep jig 200 with 60ish lb saragosa 8000. I will take.my.trusty overheads tyros 20s one with heavy braid one with heavy mono, 24kg backbone for bottom bouncing. Are any of these not suitable to the area?
Any suggestions on a decent trolling oh rod for the other tyrnos too. I have never been a big fan of the 24kg backbone so ideas on a replacement for that one would be good too. Any rods around suitable for bottom and troll?
I have a reasonable swag of jigs for the spin setups, but any particular weight and variety I should stock up on?
Thanks in advance

Some prawn softieslarge and small
they work great on very large fingermark worked slowly across the bottom. Jacks and so so many trevally species that you will quickly get sick of them. Should be both Barra and threadies although not a huge wet. One Very Very special part of the world and if you get the opportunity to do the horizontal falls make the effort . We went through the area a while back but there will be NO shortage of fish

Gear needed
I think you have it covered. There are mackies off koolan somewhere, but we were in a fishing comp and the locals didn't show us anything until after the comp finished. The Calcutta is well worth winning.
Lots of fuel and plenty of everything you need. Not sure if Kempie is still selling fuel at Koolan ? It was $3.25 back then in 2019 so might be a touch higher now.
I hope your friend knows his way it is quite daunting out there. Yes and very special place as mentioned. Rock formations are amazing.
