BUNNINGS WET BOX FOR A 200B-8B FURUNO TRANSDUCER FOR UNDER $50
Submitted by Kal on Thu, 2015-11-12 11:25
Had to try pick a spot where it should work didn't have much room to do much ,but saving this side for my 3kw wet box
Decided to put it under my tank fittings on the starboard side not much room but will just fit.
removed the wood for mounting bilge pump
Cleaning up the bottom of the bilge to make sure no air bubbles.

Hi Kal. Trolling through
Hi Kal. Trolling through the pages I found this from a few years ago and was wondering how the 3Kw wet box ended up? I'm looking at a similar setup for my cat and was wondering what you used for the box. Also the pipe you used for the 200 - Is it just standard stormwater pipe as I haven't found anything with an internal diameter of 110mm to fit the tranny? I'd appreciate any further info you have - cheers

Clever
Very clever way of doing it. Great clarity on the screen confirms a job well done.
Did you pull anything from that spot? Looks extremely promising.
I did then the best that I knew how. When I knew better, I did better.

Bottom glass would be an inch
Bottom glass would be an inch thick still ,took about 10mm of the crappy gelcoat stuff that they coat the inside of the hull with.
Bryce it is a 200khz 2kw transducer
Also filled it with straight Isuzu coolant that I had at work.

yep still kicking Tim,lol .
Thought ill wet box the 200khz at the moment to see what kind of results i get .I am looking at a 28khz in 3 kw for the port side of my bilge, as ive got a little more room, but not much more than the transducer it self .so ill just wait as it dont want to hang it out the back wet faced unless i really have to.

Just out of curiosity
what was the thought process or reasoning behind filling with coolant? Does the ethylene glocol behave as a good comductor for sounder signal or something?

What sort of boat
What sort of boat do you have this in. I've recently done the same thing in my boat but my picture is very average above 10 kts or in chop. Far to much interference!

You have to remove the wood
You have to remove the wood as it contains air and cant sound through it.
The wood is for mounting the bilge pump.
