Buying dive gear in singapore

Gang,

Myself and Michelle are in Singapore with family and friends and ran into some dive stores. On checking them out, they seem to be reasonably cheap VS Aussie stores. Could any of you let me know if it's worth picking up BCs, regs and gear?

Being very new to this, maybe a good brand and what I'd expect to pay and then we can barter. Are there brands t not go near?

Any advice
Cheers
Jason

I probably wouldn't buy BCs

I probably wouldn't buy BCs or Regs in SIngapore, just buy Zeagle from the Dive Tub in Perth. They pricematch US pricing, and you still get local service and they're cheap to service unlike other brands.

Might be ok for masks, wetsuits and fins etc, but I wouldn't buy another brand for regs. Apeks/Aqualung cost too much to service, same with scubapro, oceanic gives you free parts, but only gives you a warranty of you get the gear serviced at their service centers and they cost twice as much as some other brands.
