We were just minding our own business catching a few demersals, when he showed up. He kept swimming around flirting his cobalt blue finish at us. He finally left us alone, we had thought, wrong. Dropped down the bait, left the reel just in gear, hardley a sniff of drag. Carried on jigging with the other rod. Then as a quick as a Docker taking off after getting his pay check after loosing another game, the reel was slowly staring to increase its RPM. FAAster FAAAster By the time I slipped the drag lever up a notch it took off skywards entering into a dynamic high speed cart wheel about 25m from the boat, bit threw the leader, all over in a flash. Bloody Gold.

Mako's are the dead set nut bags of the sea, and yes, they're good on the plate.

Cape Nat

Tue, 2016-08-02 18:49

Had a bloke from fisheries shark research on board when pro fishing Cape Nat area and he said that in a 5nm radius of Wrights Bank just north of the cape they record more makos than the rest of the WA coast.
So if you want makos then that's the place to go

We used to call them blue

We used to call them blue pointers back home, used to catch plenty of them down Geelong way.
