Carnarvon floods
Submitted by carnarvonite on Mon, 2010-12-27 11:38
Putting up some pics of the flood, these were taken by ??? ,I am trying to get the ones taken from in the flood boat on the Sunday afternoon when we had to drop a chap off at his plantation near the big bridge. Though I had my camera with me I didn't get to take a shot because driving the boat in those conditions it just wasn't possible to relax for one moment

Not good at all
it's going to take a few weeks to get those roads even close to fixed the whole way through. Alot of work to be done.

good update
Thanks for the photo update, the situation certainly is not good for all concerned and when you see pictures of areas that you recognize it gives bigger indication of the devastation. Well done Carnarvonite for the time you and your team have taken to assist others before sorting out your own issues

Double and Triple
to what just dhu and PJAY said.... Extreme effort from the likes of yourself John (and others) going out of your way to help others even when your own property was under water.

Those road are stuffed. Would hate to be driving through what looks like shallow water, only to fall into 8 foot hole

Roads
The road from Minillya to Carnarvon is open to all traffic now.
Blowholes road is expected to re open just after new year, but expect a lot of dirt road because I've heard there is quite a bit missing
Gassy Junction road closed , don't know or have any idea when it will open again.
NW coastal hwy south of Carnarvon early in the new year then only in daylight hours with side tracks around the worst bits.

Just glad that all of you
in Carnarvon are safe and well. Buildings can be replaced but thank goodness no lives were lost. Take care John and will see you and some other friends up your way hopefully about the end of May 2011 on our way to Broome.
