Gday there,
Can anyone post a link of info relating to Carrarang, I've tried to search and for some reason its wigging out...
Taking a 5.6mtr boat so just wanted to know about access getting the boat in and out...
Also is it easy enough to get to DHI from Carrarang as I'm assuming the best fishing will be at either end of DHI...
Cheers

Cant post any info as its
Cant post any info as its usually organised by a mate but camped carrarrang last 2 yrs at the end of april. We had a 5.7 trailblazer which we launched with some difficulty, gets pretty shallow there and low tide usually ment it was sitting in the sand, most retrievals took 2 vehicles snatched together. We were on the east side so decent trek to dirk hartog (we planned to but never actually made it due to bad weather). Launched on the west side 1 day aswell and was extremely shallow untill midday, mabye better further up the point. We had some really low tides this yr even exposes some of the shallow reefs. Again cant judge on the fishing at dhi but was great all through the bays around carrarrang.
This yr was slower than last only got 3 sized pinks biggest went 60cm but got our bag and then some with blackies and hooked some shovelnose to. Spoke to some guys nearer the point who caught a 73cm pinky of the rocks tho. Good luck anyways and hope some of that helps.

Thanks mate... I stayed on
Thanks mate... I stayed on the Wooramel side last year and I know what it can be like at low tide... Don't want to hve to walk home that's forsure.... Was hoping to not have to rely on the pinks... Oh well I guess sometimes you have to try new places and that could be us at Carrarang this year. Cheers for reply

Hey mate we camped at carrang
Hey mate we camped at carrang in April. My friends somehow no the station owner. We didn't really go far out as we spent most our time drinking. We caught heaps of fish in the inlet bits and never went to the open ocean. Mostly spearfished but caught heaps of cod, pinkies and bluebone. All in a max depth of around 1.5m.

Used to camp there 20 years
Used to camp there 20 years ago as mates new the owners. We would camp right at the end of the point and didn't have a 4wd but used a commodore to launch a 15 ft Ali! Tide wasn't a problem, just fished when the Boat wasn't on the sand!! We used to literally go a km or two north and catch dozens of pinkies. Amazing thing once was seeing a pro herd a school of yellow fin whiting into the shallows, loop net around them, jump in and scare them into the net. They filled a little dingy with them. Must have been a couple hundred kilo!! Snakes were a real issue as were sharks cruising the shallows.

was there couple of years ago
stayed at Tamala a couple of years ago, we stayed at prickly point, was great for boat launch/ retrive, but it is called prickly point for a reson!
we wanted to camp out on the Boorabbaggutta Peninsular, but due to high tides and storm surges, we couldnt get out there.
Plenty of Snapper, just look for the holes and drift over them, was so many in fact we couldnt catch anything else, even from shore!
And i am sure you need snapper tags in that part of Freycinet Estuary.
A Fisheries boat pulled up along side and checked us on the first day we were there, and i was told they came through and checked every one at the camp sites also.
