Casting Braid

So what do you guys that get into a bit of land based action recommend in terms of braid?

Rigid/Supple; Round/Flat;

Am looking at putting it on a Saltiga Surf 6000 which is on a Team Daiwa 12' rod.

Any particular brands the go?  How does Berkley Fireline Original Fused in 30 lb go?

round and hard IMO - try search Power Pro by Shimano - & Sufix Perfomance Braid. Both top notch in my books.

Berkley fireline is a fused line and not a true braid.

Tuffline XP

Mon, 2011-12-19 09:16

I use 30lb Tuffline XP on my Stradics 8000. Use it when spinning at Quobba. Get good distance up to 100mts with 85g spaniards. Also when fish close the ledge did not break if caught on the rocks even under pressure. Can pick it up at a reasonable price on Ebay from within Australia and a lot cheaper than in the shops. see link below

You get what you pay for

In most cases with braid you get what you pay for.

I have tried many different types, but IMO i find sunline or Tournament accudepth to be  the best.

Hi Ya,

I have 20lb Finns on a Banax Poseidon 5600 and cast a 65gm metal 80 plus metres using a 12' Shimano beach rod.

I love it.

Cheers.

If distance counts where you

If distance counts where you fish try and get down to 10lb if you can. I use power pro in 30lb on a banax poseiden 5000 but it costs in distance. Just need to use a shock if you are fishing weights.

 Many braids break well above

Many braids break well above their stated strains. I use 20lb PowerPro for beach fishing at that breaks at about 30lb after knots (bimini to Yucatan)

IMO you would not need to go any heavier than 20lb and just run good knots. Agree with Blue Whaler, +1 for PowerPro.
