Cheynes Beach Salmon
Hey All My mate and I went down to Cheynes Beach to try our luck with the salmon off the ski, we left around 2am on sunday and got to cheynes around 7. at this time the pros were hauling in a big school of herrig and out a few hundred metres off shore we seen the birds working so thats always a good sign. we got to our spot and whilst we were organising the ski we seen herring getting smashed from the salmon so we asted no time on launching the ski. first cast as my mate was parking the car hooked onto a nice salmon and it was literally a hook up or a follow with each cast.
the first day was the most productive but the fish completely shutdown around 2 sunday arvo. today produced a few but found the fish to be off the rocks compared to the little bay sheltered from the wind and swell. once finding the fish it was a fish every few casts. we left today around 12 with the salmon still going off. Oh yer the herring were thick everywhere and was a pain when they smash your lure n not a salmon also caught a red mullet on the troll which is a first.

Was down there as well mate, Me the Mrs and our young bloke.
Fishing just in the cove where the sand met the rocks (couldn't take Mason to the back of the rocks, too treacherous).
Was super jeaous of you 2 being able to follow on top of the school's whilst we had to wait for them to come to us... but we still managed to get ourselves half a dozen from right there in the cove when they decided to play nice. The herring were like blowies!
Awesome weekend, love Cheynes!

Heres a video to show why no Salmon makes it to Perth waters. Friday 26th this commercial netted 7.5 ton of salmon and after 4 hrs work ended throwing around 200 fish back due to not having enough crates what a waste and yet we as rec fishos can only take 4. I throw all mine back that I catch but this is bad for fish stock.
