Combo recommendations
Gday guys,
Im soon to be travelling around Australia and hoping to update my kit with a couple of combos specifically for northern land based species - anything from tailor to Barra etc.
Ive already got a heap of el cheapo combos that I want to leave behind but I’m already sorted for a big beach combo for baits and I’ve got a small 7’ combo that I use with bait for whiting, herring etc ..
But I would like maybe one or two (my missus loves fishing too) combos that I can use with lures at the beach, rocks and creeks.
Any advice guys? I’m hoping to keep it around the $300mark for each combo - not sure if one should be slightly heavier than the other or two somewhere in the middle would be best.
I do like the look of the Shimano raider rods but not sure if they have one that’ll be a good fit for the purpose.
Thanks for any help guys!

My recommendation would be a 4000/5000 size reel (shimano stradic etc) paired with a 7 foot rod (shimano barra raider approx pe2) and load them with pe2.
There is not much you can't catch with that combo from the beach or creek.. Casting will be fine for most lures or live baits

Cheers for the advice feral.
I just looked up the Barra Raider - it’s 6foot 2piece 5-8kg - seems perfect.
The other I’ve just seen is the “Rack” whatever that is - it’s 6’8” 2 piece 2-5kg - thought this might be a good one for smaller stuff like flatties, whiting, Bream etc ?

As an all around, maybe a 9' shimano cranx, a 4000 something (maybe a sedona) and 20lb braid. That will let you cast lures and also set bait.
