Just seen some footage of this, looks like the hard top off the boat has come off and gone through the windscreen of the car behind it.

depends - not if it was secured or he had no reason to believe it wasn't - doesn't quite look like a hardtop to me (not complete at least)
hope the driver pulls through and recovers

you dont know what people do when this sort of things happen. its happened in the past where there was an accident where similar thing happened and the driver never came forward but got found out a month or two later and was charged with neglecting to report an accident .

Not sounding promising I'm afraid.
Where was the footage posted Dale, I'm intrigued as to which part of the boat caused the carnage.

Bad news
Footage is at the top of the Perth Now page. Hard top or part of it. Coming home from Perth last week a kayak flew off a car's roof rack on the freeway very nearly causing an accident then a few k's up the road was a few crab nets and an esky in the middle of the lane.

Just read this guy has passed away, he was apparently a stalwart in the WA basketball scene. So sad, RIP Anthony Exeter.

Agree Russ.
Just goes to show how we take things for granted.
Who would think to make sure the Hard Top was secure ?
Not sure if it was a factory fitted unit or a home made one.
Never the less, a very sad result.

Very sad indeed.
We can only hope that sanity prevails if it does prove to be just a tragic accident.
Looking for someone to blame as sometimes happens may just double the terrible consequences.

I agree Rob and although
I agree Rob and although this is a tragedy it highlights the importance of keeping a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you!
I just drove that stretch of road and everyone's in a hurry sitting on the car in fronts arse.
I don't know whether that was the case in this instance but perhaps the outcome might have been much different if the car trailing the boat was further back.

That's why I'm loving the adaptive cruise control in the Ranger Boony. It maintains the safe distance from all the tailgating dimwits in front. Doesn't stop the clowns up my ginger though who feel the need to pressure you to go faster.
I'me very interested to hear the facts on this one.

He wasn’t tail gating, he was heading the other way.
