coogee any good?

Hi guys new to site. Was at north mole saturday night and was using squid and medium ganghooks, something took off and I could hardly hold it! Jumping out the water, couldnt see what it was, then ended up hiding under a rock cos line got badly snagged. Whatever it was it had alot of power, any ideas of what it could have been?

Also been ducking down to coogee, where the new housing development is, has anyone had any luck there before? Small herring for me but thats about it after two fishes.

Probably a ray? what felt like a rock was probably just the ray suctioned to the bottom, and yes theyre known to jump clear out the water.

North Mole - Fish ID

Hey Mike,

I've spent many many hours at the North Mole

If the fish was large and jumping out of the water, it was probably one of two fish:

1. Large Spinner Shark (Black Tip). These are numerous and they spin and jump when they're larger, it was most likely this.

2. Spanish Mackeral. It's not unheard of at the North Mole but it's probably unlikely

For Coogee i've spent a bit of time there at the spot you're talking about.

So far the only things we've pulled out is:

Eagle Ray
Spinner Shark
Tiger Shark

There may be sized tailor, but it's not the sort of fish I try to chase

In the marina itself there's been small mulloway, scalies, herring, small tailor

I've given up there for the time being, It might be worth trying closer to snapper spawning season though

I was fishing down at the little jetty near the rock wall and I thought that I got stuck on a rock, but to my suprise it moved and I pulled up an estuary cobler didnt measure it but I got a few pics of it.
