Coral Bay Advice Please
Looking to tap into the knowledge from those who have had their boats in Coral Bay before, fish to the north or south? roughly what a typical days journey is for the fuel budget (gotta be better than 80Nm return out here) what wind speed is marginal for getting out between the reefs etc, tide issues, sinker sizes. looking to hit mainly the bottom species but we will have all the pelagic/billfish gear onboard too while we search for ground on day 1.
Thanks in advance guys, we have a week down there this coming saturday, if you're in the neibourhood and spot a blue Cruisecraft 625 Outsider LAS VEGAS, come and say g'day and have a beer with us. we'll be the loud ones at the pub on Melbourne cup day too!

Be wary of the South Passage
I would have a good look before heading out through the South Passage if the swell is around 2m +. There are some shallow lumps through it and can get very messy with a bit of wind around. We have fished out through the North with 5m of swell no problem. We normally fish in the 60m-70m depths and would rarely do more than 40Nm round trip.

Just pick your tides mate. If you pass out on the beach after melbourne cup day and the tide comes in you could find yourself wet...

up to Ktown, was in Coral bay a couple of weeks back, Ive got some pics here on FW.
What Jacko says is dead right, except you dont need big schools, sometimes especially out deeper, a small show is all thats needed.
