crabbing on the swan

Took the tinnie out for a cruise on the Swan River Friday and last night in search of some big blue's. All i can say is that mandurah may have the quantity but the river has the quality!!!
The we only got 2 crabs Friday night and only 2 last night but they were the biggest crabs i have seen in years. Cooked them up last night and they were absolutley chock a block with meat. Nice fresh loaf of bread and some salt and pepper and they went down a treat.
The smallest we caught was 62cm from claw to claw and the largest was 66cm (photo attached). Friday night was a bit choppy due to the wind but last night the wind slowed down to the point that it was like cruising on a lake in the boat.
will definately be back out there again this weekend.

It was an outgoing tide so i reckon if it was incomming tide we would have done alot better. Not to worry, still got a good feed for 1 and had a great time.

hey wicksey

You would be better off dropping nets from the really long jetty that is between Canning Highway and Mill point road. It is the one where those really large footbridges with the spiral exits go over the freeway. The jetty goes out alot further and when we were crabbing last night we were only a few hundred metre's from there. That would be my advice anyway.

best of luck

Carolyn,

I use another site to store my photos.

www.photobucket.com and once the pictures are uploaded to this site, it gives you a direct link (direct website link to the picture) which you copy and paste into a post here.

Not sure if you understand this...much easier for me as an IT Engineer :)
