Crabbing the Swan

Guys, planning to go crabbing in the swan on Sunday from the boat.  Does anyone recommend any places to try?  What length rope would I need on the pots?  I heard Carl Langdon on the radio the other day saying he got a bucket full of nice sized ones in the swan.

Took the family out last

Took the family out last weekend to drop nets at Blackwall and we didnt get even one.  There were 4 boats doing the cuircuit and out of the 40 pots dropped, only one undersized crab came up.  Till confirmed there was nothing down there as he did a dive while I was pulling the nets.

Looks like they are only out and about at night at the moment.  Did a dive at the Coombe and here were heaps and most at least 150mm, got one that was 170mm across on Wednesday.

Your better of sticking to the shallower waters early in the season and leave the deeperwater till later on! Stick to depths of 5 to 10m and use 15m of rope!Drop your nets in areas between PT Walter and the Causeway Bridge atm!

We got 10 biggens yesterday on my boat for half a day, biggest went 175mm carapace and 640mm nipper to nipper. They're full of meat and sweet as!

I found that in the arvo I was only getting females with eggs (around claremont) till about 6:00pm.  Was going to head back to the ramp but thought 1 more swim would be the go.  Did the last pull around Nedlands at about 7:30 and got a few nice sized blues. I would say they are on the move from about 7:00 onwards.
