Balanced

I bolt half of my desired weight to one end and half at the other end to make sure it's balanced and sinks flat. Otherwise I'm sure it doesn't matter.

I was always taught

Put the majority of the weight on the side which has the rope & floats attached. That way they are far less likely to bounce up and down if there is some swell and waves which come through. If all of the weight is at the rear, the pot will bob up and down on the floats too much.

Ballast

Always put all the ballast weight to the rope/bridle end to reduce pot movement!

White run

Wed, 2017-11-29 20:51

Yep Walfootrot it's started already, boss man Ryan went out today and bagged out on whites, last pot had 20 legal whites which they had to throw back.

The commercial cray guys are using Hoki heads and that's what Ryan is using, doing the job nicely.

Yes, bias towards the bridle end

Both for the more effective anchoring, and also because it makes them easier to pick up and carry.
