Crimping mono

Ok so I took advantage of a certain shop's 40% off sale yesterday, but I'm not really quite there on how to crimp the mono.

I got some 150lb, some 1.3mm double crimps, and some sleeves. Are you supposed to use a special cromp for the double ones? Order do you just crimp them side-on, to compress the 8?

Ta,

till

you crimp it with a round hole crimping tool .... all good ones have differant sized holes marked with the diameter if the crimp to be used ... these sort of crimps are the only ones that wont crush the mono . ask ya local tackle shop to show you what ones ya need.

Seems they got me the wrong crimps, I'm supposed to use ali, not steel, doh! I'll look around for the pliers. Yes - don't crimp side-on, its no good!

Ryan at Oceanside was very helpful showing me how to crimp and rig up skirted lures properly. Certainly helps to have someone who knows what they are doing show you in person

I'll see if I can upload some photos showing the process.

For the record, I use the copper double barreled sleeves most of the time, and the aluminium single barrel ones occasionally. The copper ones work on mono and wire, while the aluminium are mono only.

For the double barrels, you want to compress the '8' downwards and you use a double cupped crimping tool. If you dont have a proper crimping tool you can use pliars or the electrical simply hinged ones, but quite frankly they suck, especially if you're crimping 150lb.

A Good link for Crimping

Hey Guys....

For those looking at Crimping...I learned a lot about paying attention to detail from the website link below.

It could make the difference between keeping or losing that fish of a life time....

I would only use Jinkai crimping tools as well....
