Death of the suburban tackle shop...
Submitted by wrassinator on Sat, 2009-06-27 16:57
Bailey's Bait Box in Port Kennedy is closing in 6 weeks...
So Ian is having a clearance sale...not a gimmick, legitimately leaving the industry...so get in quick for a bargain...
Not many heavy rods and reels left, plenty of lighter spin/egi/SP stuff and heaps of terminal tackle cheap cheap...
Cheers,
Ado (not sponsored by Bailey's Bait Box, just supporting a great, local bloke squeezed outta the industry by the "big fellas" over the road..RIP knowlegable local service)

That sucks...
...Ian's a wealth of knowledge. That's a real blow to experienced fishos and beginners both. Plus he always had good prices. Chalk another one up to big business.

Good shop
What a shame it is a great little shop . A lot of people need the suburban shops like Ians because you get stuff all info of the big boys [BCF] .They know f-all and thats why we should support them as much as possible. Come to think of it I will be calling in to Ryans shop soon to buy some gear and pick there brains on anything fishing . They are always willing to give out..fishing matters that is at O'Connor.

but if you go to Ian at port
but if you go to Ian at port kennedy you might just get some good bargains before he close's the door for good......... and it would be helping him out to get some more cash flow before the big day..... then you can go back to ryan after that

Chalk another one up to big
Chalk another one up to big business.
I think its more the fault of customers really. Big business can exist only if people support them. So the same is said of small shops, if we all supported local and smaller than things would be different..
Having said that small business needs to give good service, many shops don't and then just blame others for there demise.

I went in today and got 5
I went in today and got 5 hardbody lures for $10,,theres a couple of big boxes to choose from, i got the impression he did not lose many/any customers when Ranger moved in,,i guess the average fisho is pretty loyal to his local tackle shop,,,i think he is just tired of running a tackle shop,,,
Its a tough life ,,you are either selling fishing tackle ,talking about fishing or out fishing,,,,,,life was not meant to be easy
