Deck or fishing platform for a Stessco Skipper 420

 Hi All,

I have recently purchased a Stessco Skipper 420 and was wondering if anyone had ever built a deck/fishing platform to go over the bench seat at the back and cover over the open deck area between the motor and transom?

I feel like it would be a good way to get more deck space quickly and also make it easier to enter the boat.

cheers,

Luke

Hi Luke- not quite but what i did may be worth considering depending on what you are after
i did the opposite to what you are saying in a same size alum dinghy (savage gannet)i fitted a floor from the front bench forward with a hatch in it - under the hatch i fitted the fuel tank (to get weight forward) and fitted an anchor well in the bow - this meant i had a casting platform forward and lots of storage to get all the bulky things out of the way
I fitted a side console which had the battery underneath - side console in a small boat works because-
if you are solo you can still sit in middle of the back bench seat and drive
if there are two people you can sit side by side (weight spread evenly)
access front and back is not hindered like a centre console

good luck which ever way you go
cheers

Bulk loads of info as modifying and fitting false floors is pretty popular these days.

You will find plenty of info with pics as well, alot of good ideas in regards to styles and lessons learnt.
