Kinda looks like a hapuka , fins and pinky colouration looks a bit like this one , but no hapukas had those spots
that I could see , spotted hapuka?
and one below is a greyband , so close but no cigar?

Hapuka seem to be longer and more slender, plus no spots like you said.

I did consult my Fish ID
I did consult my Fish ID books, but nothing looked the same.
Mind you, the greyband and bass grouper in the books don't look too much like the actual fish, so who knows.
