heres a pic of some ground we found out wide last week
first drop double header of puka and then those pesky green eyes
on every drop.anyone think there might be more good fish
there and how do you avoid those bloody green eyes?

I think Frank F mentioned getting a big one and ate it. He said it tasted ok but they're mostly pretty small and they would be a lot of cutting for a meal. I can't believe I never noticed that evil spike in the 2nd or third dorsal on them until last week.

I use whole fish or squid but these bastards will strip it fast.
I have used whole tuna/ salmon heads but the bigger sharks like them too

Yeah as Till said I have eaten them on a number of occations. I have eaten them fresh and have tried them after a month in the freezer. I have soaked them in milk but they still taste like shit. They have a bad after taste.

buxy u gurnard lol , what happens when u turn ur gain up bro, on that sounder? just looking at the rhs pic bro, looks like more gain needed, i remeber going out deep with the 585 and the bottom showed up similar, but after turning gaain up higher it focused much better, dunno if itsd the same story out in the 400,s though,

that tells us what not to look for. Does anyone have any sounder pics of what to look for. I take that by more gain you are expecting a clearer bottom definition?

Buxcey what transducer are you using and what TVH settings??? as I too have a 295 and want to learn more on the settings for deep water,
