Hi all. Just wondering if anyone fishes or has fished Denham out from the town ramp? Worth a visit? Thinking of a trip there next year as Gnaraloo is great it exacts a toll on the car and boatgetting in and out or if anyone has a suggestion somewhere near there along the coast worth staying at. Cheers

Hi sea -kem
was up there last weekend for 3 days. fished all over except out wide. Started of fishing a spot given by a local. 30 ks out up past the bent pin on a rising tide.
We must have caught 50 or so pan sized pinky's [all released ] and 3 just sized black snapper. Fished around the bent pin which resulted in no keepers.
Next day over to Monkey and were lucky to get a parking bay [one left ] for ute and trailer.
Fished out to and around the back of Four' re [selling] for simular results as Demham.
Total for the day 1 tuskie about 3kg 2 just sized black snapper and a heap of bady snapper no size.
Accomadation very good at $120 a day for self contained 3x1 house.
Dunno it must be that I am a shit fisherman but IMO if you carn't get outwide don't expect much.
Weather was as good as it gets with glassy seas.
See the guys who lugged there big boats up do ok but I only towed the 4.6 quinnie the total of 1800ks. Don't even know it's behind me and got 8.5 ks to the lte.
Good luck if you deside to head off.

Cheers mate. I'll be taking
Cheers mate. I'll be taking my 5.4 Quinnie if I decide to go there. Will be looking at other spots but I think this place has potential.Thing I like as well it has a boat ramp have'nt used one of those in years ,I reckon I'll be able to go far enough out to have a chance of a feed .Were you bait fishing or Jigging?

Bait.. squid occy mulie on size 6 or 7 circle hooks
As you come into the boat ramp or for that matter go out from you will see 10 or more large boat ancored up no more than 100 to 300 hundred metres out. There were a heap of black snapper being caught just beside one of these boats at about sundown. Something to keep in mind if ya head up.
We probably could have got our bag there but had enought and just wanted to down a few coldies back at [ Island Views ] our house we rate it 8/10 couldn't fault it except the water pressure was a let down but only out the front which makes it hard to wash your motor out and the TV was a bit small which made it hard to see the Pav show.
Your 5.4 is perfect for up there as you can fish nearly anywhere and easy to tow. If I went up again I would head up to Gregories and out from about 2 ks or so. Some locals [ boss of the charter boat] recon its good fishing for the smaller type ally rigs. Crabs showing up just up from Monkey we took the pots but didn't have the time to fish them.
All in all it is a great spot for a relaxing time with your boat familly and or mates. We don't mind roughting it a bit but I donno know I jusk like living in a house. Some may call me a soft cockrel or something but that hot shower cold piss and telly all within reach...

Yeah I like your style Out
Yeah I like your style Out wide. Got me seriously thinking about it now. Do you have any details for the place you stayed in ? I will google it anyway. I'll be taking a couple of mates and my 10 yr old son who is fishing mad like me. I promised him a northern fishing trip when he could do 10 proper pushups (he was struggling to do 2) he's now up to twenty lol. Those arvo beers are a must.

places to stay in Denham
Google Ray White Shark Bay and scroll through all their holiday rentals , you should be able to find something. I have stayed in about half of them and its way better than a tent.

Ah yes sea-kem, hot shower and good bed
Yep just google Ray White. They have 30 odd rentals no doubt one to suit you and your son + mates.
I look at fish as a bonus although you will always get a nice feed, they are just a part of your holiday.
Maybe snapper can give us some tips and tell me why we couldn't take home a keeper. my old mate did lose 2 or 3 good size something
Didn't have the heart to tell him the blood knot will fail you under pressure nearly all the time with braid.
This is nearing the end of the good calmish days but you know the story about the winds up that way.

Taking home some keepers
If you launch from Gregories out on Cape Peron there are some gravel patches a couple of km out , lots of berley and float mulies out . The depth is only about 12 mtrs.Be careful of the areas you fish because of the no fish zone and spawning closures,If you dont
catch any keepers try GOLF.

Sure is
Its on the right hand side of the road on the way to Monkey Mia.Its a sight to behold, dont let the sump oil and sand putting greens put you off.Green is probably not the best colour to describe it either.
