Derben runabout

I have a 4.3m derben runabout. Has a 70hp evinrude on it that's dead. Wondering what size motor I can put on it. It doesn't have a plate on it saying. Wondering if a 90hp will be ok.

Stick to 70hp
Hi mate. My dad had a 4.5m derben rumabout with a 60hp Johnson. Would hit about 30 knots at WOT. IMO, Derben boats are not as well built as some of the better known hulls. My old Northshore 4.5m runabout was a much better boat than my dads Derben. I would stay with a 70hp due to the fact that a 90hp would be too much for the Derben (thin fibreglass!). The Derben might also become stern heavy!
Weight difference between a OMC (2 stroke) 70hp and 90hp would be about 30 Kg.
Hope that helps a bit..

Yeah a bit of wishful
Yeah a bit of wishful thinking trying to put a 90 on a boat a little bigger than your average sized dinghy. A 70 should be well and truly sufficient for a boat that size.

Yeah that's what I thought.
Yeah that's what I thought. Just trying to find a cheap motor for it and probably sell it. Found a 90hp for )500. Will keep looking. Cheers
