diy kill bags?

Just wondering what people might have used or seen used as a makeshift insulated bag for fish. I was thinking about getting a double sized blue foam camp mat ( rough 10 mm thick) and sort of folding into something like a 1.3 x 0.4 metre envelope, stitching the sides together sealing with shoe-goo with a strip of velcro for the top. Not the greatest insulation but ok for a few hours? Could even have an extra outer layer of that silver stuff you put on your car windscreen when its hot.

I'm too much of a cheap arse to go buy a large eskie and dont really want the weight at the rear of the boat. Also the proper bags are expensive, this would be for the odd occasion I may pick up a reasonable sized fish.

have you checked out Precision Pak products? The PP Fish Storage Bag is a good choice, and it works out pretty cheap too. i do love on the website, it says "it is perfect for multiple Marlins, King, Salmon and all types of sport-fishing catches."

You're right, 50 bucks is a bargain. You've probably saved me a whole load of time and effort.

Came accros a precision pak

Came accros a precision pak bag today in a shop. Not sure but the insulation seems mighty thin, maybe 5mm or so. Maybe I'll get one but still line the inside with another 10mm of camp mat.

Just get a bloody esky - that way it can hold the beers, makkies and crays (if we ever catch them).

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Got a PP myself the other

Thu, 2012-04-05 08:39

Got a PP myself the other week for quobba, steep etc. My logic is that even it the Ice melts, the fish is still out of the sun and moist.. I can put sea water in it and the fish will be cool until I get to the car when I'm finished spinning. Far better than having a fish sitting on the rocks in the sun. I'll do you guys a test this weekend and I'll see how long it holds ice (cubed). Perfect for multiple marlins
