Prota pet foods in Wangara. Get the kg packs of roo for about $1-1.5 cheaper than the shops. I buy a box at a time and i think there is 12kg in the box.

Right next door to them is a chicken processor who sells the carcases for $10 a box (approx 10kg) and my dog loves to have a chew on them also. Have to remove the excess fat/skin if you have a dog that is prone to getting fat like my weimeraner.

Prota or do you mean VIP..if you want your dog to get cancer go for it..their meat is loaded with carcinogens like 223 sodium dioxide and who knows what eles..they got done by the health department last year.. had 100 times over the so called safe limit of the shit in their meat. Merv dont go there.

Prota and VIP are the same company but different brands of food. Prota is the pure roo meat in square packets no addatives.. Vip is the processed sausage type that looks like polony.

I see what you mean. Looks like they just dont have to put it on the packs of fresh meat.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention i appreciate that.

Anybody know where to get fresh roo in Perth??

Im not sure of the laws

Im not sure of the laws regarding labelling, but going by that article tbe company seems a bit dodgy and they shouldnt be trusted.

No idea where to get fresh roo, maybe try track down a professional shooter that supplys the pet food companys and buy from them? Or im sure there are members on here that knock off the odd roo..

 Little bit off topic.

I've got a mate who supplies me with roo, which we eat. But after butchering it I have given the bones to my Heeler who loves it at first, but then spews it up a while later like it is too rich. Do you guys cook it for your dogs?

Cheers

Chris

 G'day Chris

We have been feeding our last couple of dogs raw roo meat, mixed with some fresh greens and offal, from when they were pups. No problems from it being too rich.

We also give them a bone of some description every day and i have had them throw up on occasion. Usually it is when they have a soft enough bone to be able to crunch it up and eat a lot quickly. My family owned a heeler when i was a kid and from what i can remember they have jaws like a vice so i'm assuming they can smash up any roo bone pretty quick and guts it down. That may be the problem there or it might just be the change of diet if you normally feed it cooked or processed foods.

Yeah probably a combination of both. She eats like it's her last meal and doesn't get it regularly. Normally has a chicken carcass and dry biscuits and it doesn't affect her at all.

Victory Pet Meats in Midvale

Seen them butcher fresh roo there with my own eyes, and have a range of other types of pet meat too.

We have a dog thats been on special diets and needed different protein sources, vet recommended them and we've used goat and horse from there too.  All natural no additives.

This is where these roo's are going. All the best pet meats in town at prices no one can beat. Will even let you pick out the roo you want from the coolroom and process it on the spot. How can you better that. Ive work for all of them and can tell you this is the only one that sell genuine what you see pet meat with NO added chemicals.

Haha Gyprock..nah the Camel they were using ended up containing a plant poison called Indospicen..to much of this and your mate would go arse up. Actually their were at least two dogs in Perth posioned with this camel meat. The sad part was the guy was buying packs of labled roo meat when in reality it was mostly Camel. I tell ya's again Do not believe them. Prota were taking in 20 tonnes of camel meat a fortnight. But funny how nothing left the building marked as Camel.

P.S there is no Goat for pet meat this side of Carnarvon. lol

We get pet food rolls from

Fri, 2015-11-27 13:50

We get pet food rolls from the gourmet butcher in rockingham foreshore. My son is doing an apprenticeship there and my pets love them! Both the dog and the cats!

They are about $8 a roll. About the same size as a large prota roll. But it is all fresh meat and full of vegies.
