Waiting patiently

Tue, 2013-04-16 13:34

When pro beach seining we have caught dolphins inside the shot, they wait patiently for you to get the wings ashore then will swim over the cork line when you hold it down for them to escape.
Many times they have herded schools of salmon and herring in to a clear part of the beach where its easier to shoot the net.
Unlike the bait thieving pricks that have learnt to follow you along as you drop your crab nets in Bumburys Koombana bay, another case of fishers paying for he ones who like to hand feed them regularly.

Anywhere off Two Rocks through to Ledge Point you can hand feed the dolphins, they will jump out of the water to take a fish held up for them, another case of them learning to follow the crayboats getting scraps as they pull their gear.

That's so cool...

They are very intelligent animals and that video clip was so cool.

We had one eyeball us during a dive...out of nowhere it came up along side of us, had a look and then just swam off. They are bigger than you think...this one must have been 7' long.

rusty...
