electric trailer brakes - Sensa brake
Submitted by bouttime on Wed, 2014-12-10 14:31
Found a boat i am interested in although only problem i have is it has the Sensa brake setup on the trailer and i have the car set up for the Carlile Hydrastar.
Are these systems any good, trailer is 06 model.
Option i am looking at are fit the new braking unit to the car to operate the Sensabrake or refit the trailer with an all new Hydrastar system. Cost is about $1000 extra to fit new system to trailer.
Anyone use Sensa brakes and are they any good.
Cheers

From what i know of them-the
From what i know of them
-the earlier ones had an unreliable compressor
-they are however almost instantaneous unlike most others.
before committing to another one have a look at the Brake Commander

Yeah they are.and the brake
Yeah they are air, but its not specified as EOH. Otherwise every truck trailer would be EOH rather than vacuum
Only power operated, able to be manually operated from cab and with a system to lock the brakes for 15 min if its disconected from tow vehicle
The brake commander uses a standard trailer master cylinder, needs no brakeaway battery or wiring in the car at all. Uses standard tail lite wiring, wifi proportional controller and costs about $1200 for everything, Aussie made.

Ha, its definitely what id fit next time round.
So simple and aussie made plus easy and nothing to do to tow vehicle, big bonus with complicated cars such as yours and mine!

Good system
I have the sensa brake on my trailer and it has been exceptional, alko have upgraded the sytem recently and there rated as one of the best stopping systems in Australia. I have just bought a new caravan and had the sensa brake sytem fitted to it as the car is already set up.
There are two types of people ,do'ers and watchers
Right now the do'ers are the doing it
And the watchers are watching us do it
