engineers recommendation
Guys-- can anyone suggest a marine engineer that would be able to take a look at my boat and give a structual report/ reccomendation on some repairs that have been done to my alluminium hull. I noticed 600mm cracks running along the side to floor weld on both sides of the hull and as the boat was 14 months old with no heavy use the manufacturer was keen to fix them but as they are from Victoria they elected a local company to do the work. Me being a welding inspector from what I have seen from the photos I have been sent from the repairer, I am less than happy with the result and feel I have been lied to... I want to get a recommendation from someone official so I can be prepared for a long battle...
SOR if possible... Thanks

The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.

Maybe later
I am going to hold off with pictures/ further details as I don't want to pick a fight just yet- exposing the companies involved might not do me any favours at this time...
The boat is 6 1/2 metres long..

Forgot to add if your insured with club marine they will be able to help with finding the right person to look over your boat.. If your not with them you can still find one on there website.
Are you able to speak to repairer face to face? Are they a reputable boat builder/ repairer?
If your still not happy lm sure your boat manufacturer will be wanting to make things right. A big name builder of what l concidered a great boat would not like a bad rap. I had them on my list.

you are dead right when I took delivery of my brand new stacer c/c I was less than happy with the standard of finish , eg when I tilted down the console the wiring loom ripped out of the switch board (with in 4 hours of taking delivery) and welding burns and spatter all over the boat ,I contacted them (Telwater) but they were uninterested so I took to there facebook page and left negative feedback , after I did that they went into damage control and scrambled to have the boat fixed and apologized , to stacers credit they fixed all the issues with no dramas and I have had no dramas with the boat since

Weld inspector, CSWIP 3.2 or Cert 10?
Gday Mrwinta, if you have that qualification and are not happy with the welds then I'd be flashing the badge to the repairer and letting them know it will be going further.

Tie down straps
Are you using tie down straps to secure your boat to the trailer? Before mate shut his welding business up here in Carnarvon, 50% of boat repairs were from people who pulled their boats down with tie downs and cause cracking along the inside of the chines and across the bottom of the boat.
