Eryn caught a BARRA

It was a bloody bursta!

Pulled some serious string and the scales down to 51lb. Caught on soft plastic in 5m of water.

At 120cm it was an interesting way to open her barramundi account. The comment from the veteran amongst us was:

'Well, it's all down hill from here' - Hahaha, so be it!

Good onya Eryn for giving fishing a bloody good rattle in the 18 months since you rediscovered it.

You're hooked now, just leave your wallet at the tackle shop and grin maniacally like the rest of us.

Would have pulled like a freight train, good to see you destroy alot of peoples wishes with a your first barra. It could take you a life time to beat that PB again.

depends...

on how you define BIG grazeee

old mate reckoned the biggest getting around are up to 138cm or something so they dont get a lot longer

but at 38kg odd they DO get plenty HEAVIER! however there are much more qualified guys on this site to comment on the details of that.

cheers for the comments guys. There are some other shots and some video but i'm still getting around to it.

didn't mention it but she released very well. such a great feeling to see her flip that massive paddle tail and take off...

kinda feels good that she didn't seem much fazed and hopefully had forgotten the whole drama by beer o'clock, while for eryn and myself that buzz will carry us through many more trips where all we get are bitten, blown and broke

downhill yes, but only too happy to start at the top.

Especially on my boat, have all the luck, or as I have figured out over the years finesse, to land such a trophy.

Absolutley awestuck!!

Stonka, well done and congratulations Eryn, looks like a bit of fresh in one of our northern rivers but definately (at least recently) a saltwater fish with that big yellow tail, looking lean and mean too indicating hopefully a successful breeding season, beautiful fish

PS Oh yes and I'm very jealous.

for all the great comments, as you can see it was super bloody exciting for me!

As we'd been out on the water for a few hours at that stage I was starting to have my doubts when finally I felt a knock on my line...I was mid way through telling Hansie "I think I got a bite" and off she went!! I was lucky to stay in the boat!

ps..apparently I couldnt have done it without the BF teaching me how to fish! thanks mate :) haha
