Eskies
Submitted by Carry on Mon, 2016-04-04 00:42
Gday all , im chasing some info on decent eskies and am currently leaning toward a yeti tundra 250 litre , i currently have got a 125 litre eva kool which works well but the hinges are a pain in the ass and keep breaking . Does anyone know who is a dealer for the yeti eskies and also what else is out there.

Hey mate,I've got a 150lt
Hey mate,
I've got a 150lt yeti tundra, its a great esky. They have a really well designed hinge, seal and handle. Its really tough being rotomoulded plasic. It has an internal basket to keep stuff out of ice too. The only down fall is that it still cannot hold ice as long as a qaulity fibreglass esky.

Fibreglass are good
but im sick of fixing busted up hinges they should think up a better way to mount them , the rivets are crap. I thought the yeti was supposed to be the top of the market

Have a look at Techni-Ice,
Have a look at Techni-Ice, I've got one of their signature series and they're ridiculously good quality while being cheaper than the competition.
Highly recommend them

I can get 6 days of block
I can get 6 days of block ice out of a 144lt ultra cool fibreglass esky opening it all day every day. The yetis max is about half of that, I definatly think the construction and durability beats fibreglass hands down, but if your after something to keep ice, fibreglass all the way. I now use fridges and freezers so I don't even use the eskys much anymore. If were doing a reef trip a kill bag is what I use filled with block ice.

Esky
What about a Madfish Bag. They hold ice very well and don't take up deck space if your not using them.
I have been very happy with mine

Techni-Ice
Techni-Ice, in my opinion are the best on the market, and at a better price than all the others.
Had my 80L Signature series for over a year now, and has been perfect esky.

I've got the 40ltr yetti and
I've got the 40ltr yetti and while it's good for keeping ice it's bloody heavy to lug around and has bugger all room inside compared to the Size of it. If you're worried about grizzly bears stealing food out of it then probably a good bet (apparently grizzly proof) but it didn't stop my German Shepard from eating the foam handles off it. They're also overly expensive so in summary I would love them in the shop.

Tropical ice boxes are in my
Tropical ice boxes are in my view the best roto esky ever made. I have 2, they are treated with no respect at all, are left in the sun for countless day/months on end. 1 is around 8 years old and is still in excellent condition. You can use them as a seat. They have an awsome hinge setup and ive never seen one broken, I honestly dont know how you could break it. They hold ice for a long time 4-5 days. Some glass eskies might hold ice longer but are super heavy and awkward.
