ever tried to destroy cheap gear?

pulled out a brand spanker top of the line bling dardy kmart $20 shimano pheonix combo out of the shed that mum brought to have a flick down in albany 3years ago but that never happened, thinking of loading it with some thickish braid and chasing a ray to see what fails first, will post a product review of results if i get any!

anyone tried this before?

getting the bottom line final answer from a bunch of blokes that use false names and put smiley faces at the end of paragraphs is not the best place in the world to get the information you seek.

I don't see the point myself, anyone can break a rod on something big with shitty technique or just bend it across your knee! Landing a little ray on the combo with good technique however that would be sweet

or worse

Fri, 2011-07-15 18:48

Hope ya plan on retrieving the braid or else its gonna end up with the ray swimming off with 100 meters of braid behind it.

Be less cruel to just stab it to death and be done?

What does "mum" reckon about it?

Heres a suggestion though-if you dont want it how about donating it to a kid or one of those disabled fishing assistance mobs?

Perhaps

Perhaps you could go sambo jigging with it, when you get your "new REAL boat" for $5 grand ?

Just make sure you know where the oil goes in your 2 stroke outboard, after your missus teaches you how to feed mulies to seagulls.

aye.  sometimes you gotta keep your head down.

have thought about taking out one of the lil kids rods and see what it could handle.

no reason to try and break it tho.    as lamby said , get a decent fish up with it and brag away!

Once again evidence of why

Fri, 2011-07-15 20:22

Once again evidence of why people don't post on here and purely look. A post gets put up that the "click" doesn't like, whether it's right or wrong and it's open fire. Now even if this person had put up stupid comments before (not implying that) if someone new was to read this post I imagine it would discourage them somewhat. Just food for thought.

Well...

Fri, 2011-07-15 20:37

a Toll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion. The noun troll may refer to the provocative message itself, as in: "That was an excellent troll you posted". While the word troll and its associated verb trolling  are associated with Internet discourse, media attention in recent years has made such labels subjective, with trolling describing intentionally provoking actions outside of an online context. For example, mass media uses troll to describe "a person who defaces Internet tribute sites with the aim of causing grief to families.

that good enough for ya?

You are a wealth of knowledge

Fri, 2011-07-15 20:55

You are a wealth of knowledge Mr Miller! Have never actually heard of that term before. Guess I'm not tech savvy enough! All I'm trying to say is by biting back you just fuel them to do more and for people who aren't on here daily and don't know who the "trolls" are it can be discouraging to them. Merely my opinion and nothing else.

such a wealth of knowledge.  When away from the fishwrecked site Matt spends many hours researching and contributing to another great website.

Maybe we need a fishwrecked media watch forum!!

let you off for first offence

Matt,

you'll be amazed what people take from the internet and claim as their own

a friend owns a cabinet making business and advertised for a specialist design and setout staff member.

Interview a guy, CV looked great, images of work done very impressive.  Guy leaves and he thought this looks too good.  Goes to google images and types in cabinets.  Presto all his work appears on the page 1 listing.  hmm, half a brain would say open page 58 and take your images from there.

unfortunately he didnt get the job

mmmm?

cant quite work out if Im being accused of being a troll above?

Sorry Jim1 if ya think Im diggin-just thinking of a ray with 50 meters of braid hanging out of its mouth and what will inevitably come of it. Maybe use a lighter leader? But I guess that defeats the purpose of testing the rod/reel to its demise.

Of course you can do whatever you want with your equipment-but I know what my mum would have done to me (probably would still try!)

After the reaction to "Stumpy's" fate Id thought there'd be more sympathy for them but it seems my "click" is a small one and I withdraw gracefully, tail between the legs!
